Good explanation here, think the problem here is that WG labelled this as a "close quarters combat ship" which automatically triggers the playerbase memory bank with thoughts of Massachusetts/ Georgia. Despite being more modern than Amagi (they're supposed to be sister ships), Kii's Citadel protection is worse.Īnd of course, Yamato and any derivative of her design, is very allergic to brawls. But at intermediate and longer ranges, no other BB Line is as good.Įven Tier VIII Premium Kii and her torpedoes, 100mm secondaries isn't ideal. The closer you try to get, it starts acting weird as hell. In addition, IJN BB dispersion caters towards ranged combat. Matter of fact, trying to do so with a number of them is an invitation to disaster. None of the Japanese Battleships in the game are brawlers. So the way I see it, for a BB that needs to fight at intermediate or long range, the 20km fish can get used a lot more than 12km or shorter range ones, which if the IJN BB is being played correctly, should never be in range to use. IJN Battleships prefer to keep the fighting at arm's length away and should not be getting in close.Īnd I know eventually someone's going to go, "You can't hit anything with the 20km Shima torps! Their spotting range sucks!" Yet Yoshino players with those 20km torps keep hitting people with them. Theoretically, the 20km fish lets her drop torpedoes against enemy ships while still not putting the ship in ranges where she'll get more easily smashed. Not unless you like the idea of getting deleted!ġ2km torpedoes? IJN BBs shouldn't even be that close. Let's say Iwami has longer range secondaries, you still shouldn't even try to brawl with any BB hull that's related to Yamato-class and Izumo. Iwami is in Tier IX, Shikashima is in Tier X. Not sure why it doesn't have 7.7km base secondary range like Shikishima, nor why 20km torps were considered a better choice than the 12km torps it had originally. And for coal, there is steep competition.
